M. Carmen Hidalgo received her doctoral degree in Chemistry from the University of Seville (Spain) in 2000. She worked as a postdoc in the Institut für Solarenergieforschung at the Department of Photochemistry and Thin Film Technology in Hannover (Germany) and in the international company Fresenius Medical Care (Bad Homburg, Germany) at the Research and Development division until 2004. Then, she was awarded with a Ramón y Cajal contract from the Spanish Ministry of Science and moved back to Seville. Since 2008, she holds a permanent position as “Científico Titular” in the Spanish Research Council (CSIC) at the Institute of Materials Science of Seville. Her research interests relate to environmental heterogenous catalysis with special focus on the development of new improved photocatalysts.
